It came as a pleasant surprise with no less than the City Mayor Lina Montilla herself and her staff, read a full page feature of Tacurong City on Manila Bulletin Sept 15, 2011 newspaper issue. Aptly entitled as “Tantalizing Tacurong“, the full page article described the thriving agribusiness and captivating ecotourism in the heart of southcentral Mindanao.

Tantalizing Tacurong

Awesome pictures of birds from the Baras bird sanctuary headlined the growing fascination with this city of goodwill.

Of course it also featured the city’s Talakudong Festival, a colorful, ethno-cultural street dancing of heavily decorated headgears (talakudong) by tacurongnons that started way back 1976. Though the article did credited the city’s website as its source, it never mentioned the article author. We wanted to say our grateful “thank you”.

Until we “accidentally” met the author in one of our recent trips with the SoCCSarSKGen Bloggers at the Baras Bird Sanctuary. Mr. Bernard L. Supetran,a well traveled, photography, heritage tours, advertising consultant (and a blogger too, here is his blog) came all the way from Manila just to visit Baras Bird Sanctuary.

Mr. Bernard Supetran, (center in red-white shirt) Tantalizing Tacurong article author with Mr. Rey Malana (left in white-black stripe shirt) owner of LGU supported Baras Bird Sanctuary with Mindanao funnest, SoCCSarGen Bloggers and GenSan photography enthusiasts.

And it is from Mr. Supetran that we learned the same article is also featured in other newspapers like Malaya. (Read the full feature on Malaya online here.)

Just this morning, I woke up to this news on my feed: “Tacurong City’s Ambassadors of Goodwill” at Philstar.com.
