Salakot Painting Contest at Talakudong Festival

It’s my first time seeing this contest and it felt really good I dropped by just to take a look at the paint artists in action. Talakudong, got its name from this headgear worn by the tribal fore dwellers of Tacurong. Salakot is one of them and it is but fitting to stage a contest on how to paint such symbolic icon. See this artist in action, while doing a free hand paint on an indigenous Salakot.

This is one challenging contest given that the “canvas” is a much different material than what this paint artist use! And I’m seing some beautiful paintings and budding paint artists!

Winners of this contest will receive cash prizes and trophies and their art, exhibited during the Talakudong Festival celebrations! Hopefully next year, there will be more contestants!
