Tacurong City’s all new high resolution map image on Google Maps!

Have you seen the recent Google Map image of Tacurong City? If you have not, click this Google maps link and see for yourself!

Compare that with his old map picture of the city (circa 2012)

That’s right, Tacurong City now has a high resolution map image! Like this one:

I was just notified by Google recently regarding the “update” in the imagery of Tacurong City, a point of interest for me.

In 2012, during the first ever Google Mapping in Tacurong City, we filed a “request” to Google’s Geo Team to update the map image of Tacurong City. A high resolution image of a place will help a lot in “mapping” that area. I elaborated in this post, why we need to map Tacurong City, but the bottomline is, going around the city and finding places should be easier with it!

If this was a result of that request we made in 2012, and the succeeding efforts by mappers all over Philippines that help us achieve this, Tacurong City is greatly indebted to you! Thank you LGU-Tacurong for supporting the Google Mapping event. Credit goes to the amazing Google mappers of city planning dept- Christian Carillo and Dennis Teo and the funnest blogger group, SoccSarSKGen Bloggers and Mappers (headed by Avel Manansala of Gensantos.com) for facilitating the first ever workshop here. Super mappers Bernie Arellano, Narnardz Navarro, Alexis Chua, Ariel Lallisan, Laurence Erojo, Xylirroid Landicho, Marz Bendol, thank you. Also our gratitude to Notre Dame of Tacurong College IT department headed by Sir Garcia for providing us the mapping venue and internet connection. Freebros of Mr. JongJong Fresco also provided another fast internet connection and we owe it to them the event was a success!

Lastly, I think this upgrade of Tacurong’s map image wouldn’t happen without the collective (and crowdsourced) effort of the Tacurong Google Mappers. You guys rock!

Now, lets map Tacurong City some more!
