After a courtesy call with City Mayor Lina O. Montilla at the city hall, the environmental ambassadors visited the city’s Material Recovery Facility in Upper Katungal, the first fully functional Category 2 waste disposal and recycling facility in Mindanao.
The beautiful ladies then went on to Decela Eco Tourism Park, in the mountainous portion of New Passi to plant trees and stay true to their environmental advocacy.
Who said these ladies don’t know how to climb and get dirty so they could plant trees?
At the famed Baras Bird Sanctuary, Miss Philippines Earth beauties feasted their eyes on the variety (and hundreds) of birds in a protected sanctuary. Ms. Philippines Earth winner Jamie Herrell of Cebu even interviewed Mr. Rey Malana, the sanctuary owner and in charge, about Baras Bird Sanctuary.
Monte Vicenteau Resort , the environmental ambassadors we’re welcomed by the energetic Talakudong Dancers of VFGNHS who danced to the beat of the drums ala Talakudong Festival. The pretty ladies we’re quite impressed and gracious with the warm welcome.
They were then treated to a feast of fresh fruits produce of the farm like mangoosteen, lanzones and durian. They also witnessed Handicrafts Making (Coco Midribs, Palm Fronds waste, Kalakat, Water Hyacinth) making kudongs and other decorative, native products.
Of course the ladies were also treated to Tacurong City’s food and delicacies at dinner time. The tinolang “native” na manok went center stage as well ginataang hito, pritong tilapia, crunchy yummy lechon.
The city’s band provided pop music to warm the cool, rainy evening.
The multi awarded Tacurong Dance Sport Group capped the night with a jaw dropping dance sport routines, which awed the visitors to no end.
“More!!” was the constant shouts heard from the audience!
This visit by Ms. Philippines Earth 2014 winners boosted the growing fame of Tacurong City’s tourism spots both locally and outside SOCCSarSKGen area. Thanks to Miss Philippines Earth, Department of Tourism Region 12 (12th Paradise) headed by Nita Nelly Dillera, Mayor Lina O. Montilla, City Tourism Officer Emelie Jamorabon and the various support groups and sponsors for bringing these beauties to the City of Goodwill!
